(March 25, 2015) — Keeping with UK tradition, an undergraduate student will be selected to speak at each of two undergraduate Commencement ceremonies, which will take place at 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. Saturday, May 9, in Rupp Arena.

Students interested in speaking must submit their applications by 4 p.m. Friday, March 27.

A Commencement Speaker Selection Committee will determine which students will have the honor of addressing their fellow graduates. Applications are available online at www.uky.edu/Commencement/speakers.html.

(March 24, 2015) — The University of Kentucky Office of Sustainability has partnered with the Student Sustainability Council and the Tracy Farmer Institute for Sustainability and the Environment (TFISE) to launch a rejuvenated student sustainability internship program. The partnership is offering six paid internships for undergraduate students in any degree program for the 2015-2016 academic year.

(March 4, 2015) — You, too, can be a STAR, a star student, star leader, star innovator.

The deadline is March 9 for undergraduates to apply to STAR, the University of Kentucky’s Summer Training in Alcohol Research program. Students can study alcohol‐related disorders like alcoholism, fetal alcohol syndrome, cancer, family relationship dynamics, medications development and risk factors.

An innovative grant from the National Institute of Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA) funds the UK program that both advances research of alcohol abuse, but also trains tomorrow's problem solvers.

(March 4, 2015) — University of Kentucky architecture graduate student Mark Manczyk won the UK Venture Challenge and a $1,500 scholarship with his business idea, "re.3." What isn't as common are high school students going to a college campus every day to get that same experience, but for STEAM students interning at the University of Kentucky, that's just what they did.

(June 3, 2014) — The University of Kentucky has been awarded a $1.9 million grant to improve retention of students in the STEM disciplines: science, technology, engineering and mathematics, through a collection of initiatives dubbed "STEMCats."

UK is one of 37 research institutions selected by the Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI) to receive an award, from among 170 institutions competing for a share of $60 million in total funding. The five-year awards, ranging from $1.2 to $2.4 million, are intended to enable schools to focus on "significant and sustained improvement in retaining students" in the STEM disciplines.

(April 16, 2014) – The University of Kentucky Office of External Scholarships is proud to announce that political science junior and UK Women's Tennis Team member Grace Trimble, of Winchester, Ky., has been named a 2014 Truman Scholar and will receive $30,000 to conduct graduate work in areas of public service.
