Hey! My name’s Alani, and I am a sophomore majoring in Neuroscience with a minor in Cognitive Sciences on a Pre-Med track. After my undergraduate studies, I hope to go on to medical school and then subsequently pursue a career in forensic psychiatry.
On campus, I am involved in a variety of organizations such as Women in Neuroscience, Hues in Medicine which I am the community service chair for, and Black Student Union where I am a BSU ambassador. I also partake in research through the Sanders-Brown Center on Aging here at UK where we study Alzheimer's Disease and the protein associated with neurodegenerative diseases known as Tau. We aim to find mechanisms towards curing the disease.
For fun, I enjoy making music and playing the paino. I am apart of the UK Arts in Healthcare Program, which allows me to perform in the atrium of the hospital for passing guests. I love UK because of the plethora of activities and organizations you can get involved in. There is truly something for everyone here.
