Minor in Spanish

Hey there! My name is Holly Cason and I am a Senior from Lexington studying Environmental and Sustainability Studies & Natural Resources and Environmental Sciences with a minor in Spanish.

Some of my hobbies include going on walks with my dog, making playlists, drawing, going to concerts, making coffee, and traveling! Over the summer I had the opportunity to intern with Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government. There, I worked on researching emission reduction initiatives and compiling resources for a resident sustainability guide. This school year, I am excited to return to an internship with UK Recycling, where I will be assisting in zero-waste initiatives like composting, promoting recycling on campus, and researching new diversion opportunities.

One thing I love about my major is how it sparks my passion to support conservation and natural systems. I have learned so much and met so many wonderful people through my major and I cannot wait to apply what I have learned and make a difference. After I graduate, I would like to pursue a career as a Chief Sustainability Officer, working with larger companies to regulate and decrease their negative environmental impacts on the world.

When I first started school, I was a little overwhelmed because I didn't know if I was going to be prepared for college or the transition into this new phase of my life, but I was wrong to worry. One of the biggest reasons why I love this university is because there are so many people willing to help you with anything! From academic advisors, professors, or even a random student, this community is extremely welcoming and always willing to lend a hand.

I'm glad to be a part of it and hope to see you around! Go cats!
